The series “Nostalgia" is inspired by the oxidation process of copper and patina colour palette. Several layers of watercolour paint are applied on gesso-primed canvas together with a traditional sculptural material - copper. The painting’s swathes of colours and deep flowing texture, blur the boundaries between 2D and 3D forms, representing "the surface corrosion of an emotional facade". These sculptural paintings intend to draw a parallel between the ever-changing state of oxidation and the feeling of nostalgia. Like patina forming over copper as metal's natural protective layer, similarly, nostalgia preserves memories into present time.
