Cold
Sculptures are made of two main contrasting materials, clay and burnt polyester textile: stone-like and heavy vs. fragile and light. The burnt fabric has hardened and transformed into a plastic lace of cool lilac-grey shades, resembling frozen lianas over a labyrinth of caves.
It is a reflection over the evolution from an ancient time to the contemporary world, a dichotomy between organic and synthetic, between porous bones and glossy skin. A trip from the wide empty space of caves to the microscopic intricacy of osseous structures.
The title of the sculpture evokes the feeling of venturing into the depths of the unknown, where solidity and vulnerability co-exist in a world of uncanny paradox.
