Digital Cocoon

Digital Cocoon is an immersive installation of suspended, skin-like structures made from burnt polyester textile, illuminated by digital projections of foliage. Light passes through the translucent layers and fire-created openings, revealing intricate textures and casting shifting shadows.
The installation explores the phenomenon of digital cocooning, in which individuals increasingly retreat from physical social interaction into virtual environments. Drawing on the natural process of metamorphosis, the work reverses the symbolism of the cocoon: rather than emerging transformed, the human retreats into a state of isolation and immobility. The fragile textile structures exist between protection and confinement, reflecting the changing relationship between the human body, nature and digital existence.
